Michelin Says no to Glasgow but 15 Scots eateries earn a coveted star.

Scottish cuisine is not all deep fried mars bars and donner kebabs, however the serious lack of  top quality restaurants in Glasgow is now very apparent as not a single star has been handed out to any Glasgow establishments. This  means that Glasgow is the ONLY major city in the UK not to have a sinlge Michelin star. In fact this now menas that Glasgow has went an astonishing 7 years without a Michelin star. Edinburgh in start contrast has a total of 5 Michelin starred establishments.

Scotland has now reached an unprecedented 15 single starred restaurants, and congratulations to each of these venues. A single star denotes “a very good restaurant in its category”.

The fantastic Andrew Fairlie restaurant at Gleneagles holds onto its 2 star status and is the  only one  to hold 2 Michelin stars in Scotland.

The Michelin Guide 2010, is not released until Wednesday  but we managed to get a leaked copy  to confirm who will be starred in the book in  2010.

The respected restaurant guide is notorious for being published in January, when most chefs are on their annual holiday.

Fouled mouth Gordon Ramsay’s self-titled restaurants at Claridge’s in Mayfair was one of 13 to lose one-star status.
