Buffet review – Paris Las Vegas was such a let down

After scouring the net to find regular priced great eats in Las Vegas, the single most noted buffet in town was the Paris Las Vegas buffet.

I am a bit of a old hand when it comes to Las Vegas buffets and have sampled several exceptional buffets in Las Vegas on my last 2 trips over the last 10 Years.

The most noted buffets that spring to mind would be the prime rib and seafood buffet at the Rio and the champagne brunch served at weekends in Wynns fantastic buffet.

So the 1.5 hour wait, yes I really did wait that long to get into a buffet, was to say the least a disaster. First impressions were ok, they have tried to keep the French theme running through the place, with small rooms breaking up the dining room feel and this was indeed a positive, however this was the only positive I could find in the otherwise disappointing dining experience.

The menu outside looked appetising enough, promising prime rib and snow crab as well however when through the doors and after parting with $30 per person for a buffet dinner, we then got to experience the real offering.

First up was the appetiser. With the promise of fresh seafood I was sold, thinking of sweet crab legs filling my plate I was salivating at the thought, however when I got to the starter section all that graced my presence was salad, some overcook shrimp and the cheapest crab sticks I have ever tasted, I did manage to grab 2 crab legs but that was indeed an endeavour and these were ok.

After the disappointment of the starter I had looked over to see what looked like prime cuts of meat on a manged service station, this I had to queue for another 15 minutes to get to and ravenously decided on both “prime” rib and lamb. There were various accompaniments to go with the meat and I opted for the sloppy mash potatoes, the almost raw carrots and the skin on roasted sweet potatoes.

The “prime” rib, and I do use the prime word loosely was like chewing rubber, and although I was hungry I could not even chew this. The lamb was slightly better and indeed was edible however that is about all I could say for this. There were no sauces at all to accompany the lamb and the grave that went with the beef was shockingly bad. As you have guessed from my description above the vegetable were a disaster also.

Half way through my main course at 1030 I was told that they clear down the buffet at 1040 (even though they advertise the dinner buffet from 8-11) so I upped sticks again and went in search of the advertised range of desserts and fruit and cheese platter. Now as you can probable guess, this was also a non event. I did mange to grab a crème caramel but this was a fight, no other desserts could be seen never mind any type of cheese.

A 4 hour dining fiasco is the only way I can describe the Paris Las Vegas Buffet.

In conclusion – this has to be the worst dining experience you could imagine, never mind  what you would expect to find in a 5* establishment. Buffet or no buffet. $30 was a con and you will be hard pressed to ever find me anywhere near the Paris Las Vegas resort and Casino again.
