Max Brenner: Union Square NYC Restaurant review

Fall is officially here. The mornings and evenings are chilly! Midday brings temps near the 50s and night time the temperature would be down to slightly below 40. I cannot say that I love this weather but it is what it is. I just need to figure out ways to cheat the chill.
In cool weather, I find myself longing for hot chocolate and warm lava cake in the evenings about once per week. To marry these two desires, I decided to give Max Brenner a shot. Max Brenner is an international chain with 21 stores worldwide, including 5 in Israel, 12 in Australia, 2 in Asia and 2 in New York City. Word has it that Max Brenner plans to open 300 branches in the U.S. over the next ten years.
A hot chocolate in a “hug mug” with the hints of vanilla. That is what I ordered and what I saw was exactly what I had in mind. It was just perfect. One would think that I would cross warm lava cake off my list now that I am having a rich hot chocolate but that did not happen.

Both my friend and I had a hard time deciding what we want to order. In the end we decided to order 2 big plates of dessert so that we can share it. We ended up with Banana Split Waffle and The Ivory Heart. The Ivory Heart is a warm chocolate cake filled with a double layer of melting pure white chocolate and chocolate cream. Serve with fresh strawberries and blueberries, a side of warm chocolate sauce and vanilla ice cream topped with chocolate fondue.

The Ivory Heart
Max Brenner is quite a cozy place to hang out with your friends or family. Do note that it gets uncomfortable on the weekends as it gets really crowded and in addition to that, they do not take reservations on the weekends.

Overall, ever since I learned the art of enjoying the hug mug I have a hard time opening that packet of Swiss Miss with those poor excuse for marshmallows stuck in there! At Max Brenner, enjoy it to the max!
